A recent raffle gun controversy is raging between politicians who are for stricter gun control and people who support the spreading of firearms as long as it is legal.

The controversy is revolving around a silent auction at the annual conference of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters for a "hunting package" that includes a hunting rifle and a dinner organized by the Canadian Shooting Sports Association where a Beretta semi-automatic handgun will be given away as a raffle prize. While the items presented at the auction are non-restricted and all the participators of the auction and dinner were supposed to have a firearm license,A Gun Controversy Articles these two events triggered a heated discussion. The main point of the discussion is that it is inappropriate to make gun auctions and raffles while Canada has problems with gun related violence. People representing the hunting community instead argued that these events have nothing to do with gang and drug related gun violence on the streets of Canadian major cities like Toronto.

In the past days this controversy became so heated that even the Prime Minister Stephen Harper appeared at the annual conference of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, with a speech concerning gun control issues. He appealed to the Ontario hunters and anglers to help scrap gun registry. The federal long gun registry turned out to have little influence on gun related violence and was basically a flaw and a loss of money. It also became a huge “bloated bureaucratic nightmare” for responsible hunters, farmers and rural Canadians that rely on long guns in their everyday life.

This whole event seems a bit like watching away from the real problems, like the current gun violence that occurs almost every day in every major city of Canada. Also the latest school shootings in Germany might have influenced this scandal, while the weapon in the Winnenden shooting was a Beretta 92f handgun, there are many cases when a long gun was involved as a weapon. If a family has a hunting rifle at home it can be possible that the kids can get it, even if it is locked away. As you see if we look a little deeper in the long guns problem we can see that it influences many other gun related issues. While most of the people consider that long guns are not the main problem in the gun control related issues, the police has a different opinion. Due to the police statistics most domestic murders and suicides are committed with long guns.

Lot of people also point out that laying additions restrictions on weapons could be harmful for people like farmers who need long guns to protect their cattle from predators like wolves and coyotes. Also the aboriginal people who rely on hunting and have additional gun laws in their community, could suffer from the restrictions. It is sometimes hard to define when hunting as a sport or a part of everyday life could become a way of obtaining guns.

The Crucial Role of Mammography in Early Breast Cancer Detection

Mammography stands as a pivotal tool in the early detection of breast cancer, significantly improving the chances of successful treatment and survival. This non-invasive diagnostic method utilizes low-dose X-rays to create detailed images of the breast tissue, enabling healthcare professionals to identify abnormalities that may indicate the presence of cancer. With breast cancer being the most common cancer among women worldwide, the importance of mammography cannot be overstated. In fact, regular screening mammograms can reduce breast cancer mortality by about 20% among women aged 40 to 74, according to the American Cancer Society.
