Near Manchester,Helicopter Crash Kills Three Articles Kentucky, a helicopter crashed in a school parking lot and killed three crewmembers that were on board.

The accident occurred on Thursday night in Clay County. This is the fourth deadly crash in the last six years that happened to Air Evac Lifeteam helicopters.

There was no patient on board. The crew was returning from London, Kentucky, where they had just dropped one off at the hospital. They crashed the chopper into the parking lot of Paces Creek Elementary School, right outside of Manchester. They were heading to their base in Manchester.

Witnesses heard the crash and then saw flames erupt as soon as it had landed. Residents in the area describe how “it was just a huge fireball.”

The pilot of the plane, Eddie Sizemore; the flight paramedic, Herman “Lee” Dobbs; and flight nurse, Jesse Jones were the crewmembers killed. Medical helicopters are required to have each of these positions on their trips; and though it is unfortunate that the three members were killed, it is lucky that there were no other people on board.

The accident is still under investigation, and the crash was expected to be cleared by the end of the weekend.  The police expect a preliminary report within two weeks.
