The city itself lies in central Western Bulgaria and is surrounded by the Balkan Mountains.

Since joining the EU on 1 January 2007,Enjoing Europe Articles investment interest, as well as tourism, has steadily increased, with many feeling the trend is likely to continue at least for the foreseeable future. Sofia is a rapidly growing city, with huge business parks and a large number of multinational companies. The property opportunities in some areas offer up to 100% finance.

With a likeable climate and plenty of tourist attractions, many holidaymakers are flooding into the country and indeed its capital to see what all the fuss is about. Vitosha is the region’s highest mountain and attracts many families for picnics in the summer. In the winter months many city residents take the 40 min ride to the mountain’s ski resort.

The continental climate sees temperatures reach as high as 30ºc in the summer, making for perfect beach weather, even though there are no beaches anywhere near. If it’s the cold winters you love, Bulgaria can offer the perfect Ski season. Since joining the EU, funds have been released, helping to build a main road from Sofia to Bansko, making it easier to get from the capital to the ski resorts.

Tourist attractions in the City include the National History Museum, the Sofia State Library and the nine-acre amusement park ‘Sofia Land’, located just across from the Sofia Zoological Garden. Tourists who visit the city are never at a loss as for something to do.

The capital also enjoys a booming film industry and with its geographic location situated as the foothills of the weekend retreat Vitosha Mountain, views surrounding the city can be described as no less than utterly stunning.

Most restaurants in Sofia serve European and Bulgarian cuisine and many say a visit to a local tavern is an absolute must. With entertainment including folk music and typically delicious Bulgarian dishes, each night in Sofia is set to be a thrilling experience.

One thing to keep in mind is that unlike in most cultures, Bulgarians often nod their head for “no” and Shake their head for “yes.” This often leads to great confusion for many tourists and investors visiting the country for the first time. Also it is common courtesy to take an odd number of flowers when invited into someone’s home. A palce to visit !
