How many hours or days have you spent thinking about the right light for the living room? And how many for the kitchen and the bedroom? But… what about the bathroom? Here some tips to bear in mind when you buy furniture online.

Lighting a bath is often not a priority. Well, it’s wrong. (Many) years ago the bathroom was a secret place, and so… the darker, the better. But starting from the first part of the XX century, the bathroom became large, elegant and well-designed. Its status changed, and (following the steps of the kitchen) it became the place where design, shapes, materials and technology can and must be used. Today, the bathroom can be the part of your house that you want to show off. And even if you just have a normal bathroom, not blessed with a Philippe Starck’s shower… in any case you may want to make it perfect. And bright.

A bathroom must be bright: choose ample overhead and task lighting. At the same time, you can also decide you want a “chill-out” atmosphere: in that case remember to add soft lights. Ceiling–mounted or recessed lighting overhead are perfect for general illumination, while task lighting is the right one for the vanity area (can you imagine applying make-up without the right light? The outcome might be terrible!!) Also the shower and tub area need light. Do not exaggerate with recessed fixtures if you want to avoid too many holes in the ceiling. And don’t fall for asymmetrical lighting: it is not what you need in front of the mirror. Welcome, LEDs technology! Energy–saving, long-lasting and stylish. Do you need more reasons to use them?

Do you like diffused light? Good: because it’s really a good option for the bathroom. If you want to give a touch of style, pendant lights create a very elegant effect. The proper task lighting at the mirror is essential (make-up, teeth brushing, shaving…) but forget about a light above the mirror (recessed lights in the ceiling included) because it will make you look older (!) and it won’t help during your daily routine.
