For those Democrats who care to remember,Rome Is Burning Articles flash back to the year 2000 -- the person, who won the popular vote, did not become President.  And we got seven years of disaster for our country.  It happened because of Florida -- and Florida is in the middle of it again!

Let’s review the situation -- according to the media, Florida moved up their primary, therefore they were penalized by the Democratic National Committee by having their delegates and votes not counting at the Democratic National Convention.

Now, let’s look at what really happened.  Several states were penalized by the DNC for moving up their primaries, but in a meeting held in Atlanta, the DNC forgave and didn’t penalize all the other states -- only Michigan and Florida.  The news media has not reported this little known fact.  And here is another one -- the decision to move up the primary in Florida wasn’t even the Democrat’s idea -- it was the Republican Party.  The Florida legislature, which is held by the Republican Party, voted for moving the primary contest up.  The media has not reported that either.  So once again Florida’s Republican Party has control of our biggest political contest.

As for Michigan, I found this interesting bit of news on a blog:

“Sources with Edwards, Dodd and Biden's campaigns -- speaking on the condition of anonymity -- said they discussed a plan, apparently floated by the Obama campaign, to privately tell Clinton's team they would remain on the ballot and at the last minute remove their names. Thus, Clinton would be the sole name on a renegade state's ballot.”

I believe that when all this maneuvering was going on, no one in the DNC had any idea that Obama would develop such a cult following and sweep most of the delegates in order to gain the nomination.  No, they all figured Hillary had this one in the bag.  Now, they have a problem of who is the best candidate to go against the Republicans -- a little known Senator from Illinois, who has little if any foreign policy experience, or Hillary Clinton, who has more experience in domestic and foreign policy not to mention that she and her husband are powerful leaders in the Democratic Party.  Do they give the nomination to Senator Obama, the weaker of the two or count all the votes and give the nomination to Senator Clinton, who probably really won the most votes if you counted Florida?  If it’s Clinton, they risk the disapproval and rioting of 95% of the black supporters of Senator Obama, or give it to Obama which will cause many Floridians to not vote and will also alienate about 30 to 35% of Clinton’s supporters.

Because the DNC has no spine, they will nominate Obama and our next president might well be Senator McCain.  A Republican President could win, in a year when the Democrats have the absolutely best chance to win back the White House.  Or we get another President who has no experience, which is what we have now and look at the state of our nation!!   It is almost laughable.

The Super Delegates are suppose to vote for the candidate who can best win the general election -- that was what their original mandate was when the Democratic Party came up with this system.  I am tired of the Democratic Party and all of its silly rules -- there are probably many Democrats who feel the same way I do.  Our delegates are split up proportionally by the percentage of the vote that each candidate won in each state, except for the states that have caucuses, (don’t ask me to explain that one) except in Texas where they have both! Yes, that’s right -- Texas has both -- an election and then that night a caucus.  They are not even sure right now how many delegates each candidate gets from Texas.  (Leave it to my great state of Texas).   The Republican’s have it right -- winner takes all.

What I want to know is why hasn’t the press reported on any of this?  It seems to be that the media drives public opinion and may actually control public policy.  Is that what we want in our country, state controlled media?  We do not have freedom of the press in this country.  We have a few powerful owners of the major networks, who control the media and decide the talking points for the day.  Not exactly what our Founding Fathers meant when they wrote the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence.  So, unless the few owners want the public to know, then the press never reports it.

Everyone needs to wake up.  Our country is failing.  We are at war in two countries costing us 2 billion dollars a week, we are trillions of dollars in debt (to a communist country) a barrel of oil is about $135, by the end of summer a gallon of gas could well be $6.00, our jobs are being shipped to other countries, our dollar is worth 300% less than 7 years ago, New Orleans is still not rebuilt, and 35 million Americans have no health insurance.

We need a leader!!   Rome is burning and no one seems to care!!
