When one wants to be successful and look powerful, the last thing one needs to be accused of is wearing a cheap tie. In the business world, looking as if one is wearing cheap clothing or discount neckties is frowned upon. Have you been asked to a formal event? a.      Avoid solid colors, especially in silk or satin. These tend to show imperfections well. Instead, if you must purchase solid ties, check out microfiber ties which look expensive, but are often considered discount ties.

b.      Buy patterns, but not complex patterns. Complex patterns draw attention to your tie. Simple patterns on the other hand, will look nice without drawing undue attention.

c.      Avoid ties that crease easily. Once bought, take care that your tie does not crease too much.
