There are numerous types of LED available in the market, like OLED, PLED etc. Technically, the led light bulb works only on DC power, it is made commercially by converting the AC input to DC input for the diodes using an adapter which is inbuilt with the LED light bulb.

The led light bulb has cooling units or heat sinks attached to the chip, because LED cannot handle high temperature, though it won't produce much heat when compared to the other light bulbs. It has high efficiency and value for the money. The initial cost for a led light bulb might turn out to be pretty costlier than other bulbs, but it got more efficiency and long life term than other bulbs.

Most commercially available led light bulb emits bright white light. But there are other colors like red, blue, green emitting led light bulb in the market. The only disadvantage of led light bulb is the high initial cost to be shelled out.

These bulbs can produce up to 7500 lumens for 100 watts of power consumption. led light bulb can be used to produce many other colors using mixers or reflectors. It is not filled with any gas inside a bulb that is breakable. Hence led light bulb is more eco-friendly.

House hold use, led light bulb ranges from 5 - 40 watt. A 10 watt LED bulb can produce light as bright as a 100W Halogen bulb. It is claimed to have life span of 35000 or more hours. And the brightness decreases only 10% after 18000 to 19000 hours.

Normally one can get a 7W led light bulb as a good replacement for a 60W incandescent lamp. It is used in industries as flash lights, walkway lights and other special purposes. It is used as backlit for Television screen and laptop screen. It is also used in cars and bike for great visibility of light and less power consumption.

Some manufacturers offer solar charged led light bulb that uses solar power as a source of electricity and works on that, which is more efficient, thought the initial cost will be huge. It can be produced in any shape and length for special uses.

Since it is more efficient, all LCD TVs, monitors, screens are using LED as backlight for more colour and brighter output. Hence it is worth shelling out few bucks for our own advantage and to protect the world with its eco-friendly nature.
