There are hundreds of articles on the internet talking about the benefits of implementing a proper DevOps workflow. However,Ever heard any of these excuses for not implementing DevOps? Articles that is not always enough to make your tech lead swallow the pill and implement a proper CI/CD workflow.

It always will be scary to switch to at the beginning for some organizations.

So if you are trying to make your IT Head or simply one key decision make a switch  to implement major DevOps processes, you might hear one of the three excuses listed below.

Don't worry though, we've also listed a couple of ways you'll could reframe that discussion for the companies' good.

"It’s a Startup Hype, Not for Enterprise"

This is one of the statements, big companies say when they don't want to evolve their age old processes. Chances are that these big organizations will benefit the most from DevOps than the new age startups. As improving process and adding automation will reduce manual tasks and also help with cost optimizations in the long run.

“Automation Means Errors.”

Well, anything which  is poorly implemented is riddled with errors. DevOps is not immune to that but with best practices, one can achieve wonders. Automation eliminates human error and Continuous Delivery makes little changes more frequently so large amounts of code and other changes are not being implemented in one huge bundle. This means that when an error occurs, the source can easily be identified.

“It’s Too Expensive.”

Of course it will look expensive on the surface but if you look at the other areas it is impacting.  By reducing manual tasks and streamlining the process, developers can accomplish more and work on other factors to improve the product/service. DevOps is definitely worth it.

To Conclude

It’s always a better approach to have DevOps fix your processes. It may be daunting at first and you can take help from one of those managed service providers but in the long run it will be worth it.
