Designer pant suits are the uniform of war. The First World War was said to be the war to end all wars and so we promptly started the Second World War. Men were men and the Generals dominated the world with their whimsical sidekicks. But another war took on a whole new dimension as a result of the Great War namely the Gender wars.
Women had had to fend for themselves while their menfolk were away doing battle and they had found that they were very capable of doing so. They did mens' work, took on mens' responsibilities and started dressing like men when designer pant suits were first hinted at in the 1920's.
The world had changed forever when the men came back from fighting and so had their womenfolk. And thus the battle began. Men officially kicked against this new-found feminine independence way into the 1990's when it was still prohibited to wear pant suits in the United States Senate. Hillary Clinton made a subtle yet bold statement when she was sworn into the Senate while wearing one of her designer pant suits. Even today there are companies and churches who do not allow pants to be worn by women.
It took a while but Andrè Courrèges eventually introduced long trousers into fashion in the late 1960's. Proponents of designer pant suits have defended them on the basis of comfort and the reduced need for pantyhose but the primary reason seems to be modesty. Women no longer need to worry about being exposed by naughty winds, sitting or bending awkwardly or, in today's tragic society, the threat of perverts with cameras on their shoes.
Designer pant suits, known outside of America as trouser suits are essentially a pair of trousers with a matching coat or jacket. Some come as three-piece suits and they include a matching top. There are as many designs as there are designers and fabrics vary from denim to velour, and from linen to crimpoline. They lend enchantment and style to any woman's wardrobe with their many colors and cuts.
Every occasion that one can think of has been catered for by those making and selling designer pant suits. There is a wide variety catering for the obvious things like office wear and evening wear but it does not stop there. There are designer pant suits specially made for the mother of the bride and occasion-specific suits for every occasion from baby showers to birthday parties. For ladies looking for something dressy or formal or just something casual, there are designer pant suits to suit her every need, if you'll forgive the pun.
