Promotional products are something that a lot of businesses use. However,Promotional Products Are There for More than Just Businesses Articles they do not just have to be used for companies. They can also be utilized for promoting schools and non-profit organizations effectively.

So what are these products?  They could be anything with your company or organization name on it. Pens, mugs and golf balls are what most people think of, but these are just tip of the ice berg. It can also be used on shirts, car accessories, backpacks, etc.

But how do you increase the effectiveness of the product?  A lot of companies and organizations use these products. But most of them use them incorrectly. When done the wrong way, they are basically a waste of time and money. Here are 3 tips for getting results from promotional items:

#1) Figure out your goals
You need to have an objective with promotional products. It is not enough to just put the company or organization name and hope you get more business. This is just wishful thinking.   Instead, you want to figure out what you want to achieve (i.e. 100 more leads, $1,000 more in donations for your charity, etc.). This way you have an objective.

#2) Get a measurable response
Now that you know your goals, you just have to achieve them. This is not easy, especially since you are so limited in space with promotional products. But it can be done.  First of all, make sure your company name tells what you do. It is amazing how many companies do not do this (i.e. Kinkos, McDonalds, etc.). These names say nothing about what business or industry the firm is in. While these are examples of firms that have become successful without having a descriptive name, they are the exception. Most companies would do well to say what they do in the name, particularly when this is the most prominent part of the message on the promotional product. Aside from that, make sure you give some reason for people to contact you. Assuming you have a unique selling proposition (and you should) you would want to include that right below your company name. Make sure the USP is compelling enough to actually get people to respond. If you do not give people a reason to contact you, they will not.

#3) Keep the target audience in mind
Do not just do a promotion that appeals to everyone. Get specific, and make sure it targets your prospects. For instance, if you sell golf products, your promotional items should be golf related (i.e. head covers, golf balls, etc.).

Conclusion
Promotional products can be a great way to help grow your business. They can work when used correctly. Use these 3 tips, and you should be on your way to the response you seek.
