You may be wondering what kinds of banners are best for your website. When you take a look at the overview of standard web banner formats you will notice that there are many of them. Some of them seem quite similar to another but some may seem very strange and unique. Basically speaking we can distinguish three basic groups of web banner sizes and formats:
- First we have rectangular ones that can be up to 336px wide. They are prefect for all kinds of wide side bars but many people put them in the content area as well.
- The second group is formed by the skyscrapers - It is a group of banners perfect for more narrow side bars. They are a nice addition to the main content and they are not very intrusive either, which is a great advantage for many designers and bloggers.
- Banners and Buttons - being more horizontal they are perfect for headers and footers.

As you can see all elements of a website layout are covered by standard web banner sizes. It is up to you to decide where you would like your ads to be placed.
