Garages are used for several different purposes in homes today. It isn't just a place to park the car anymore, while that is one of the main functions. When it comes to the extra Christmas decorations and keepsakes,
garages seem to have the perfect amount of space for storage. You don't want to keep these things in the closet throughout the year, but you can't see getting rid of them and so out they go into storage. To maximize the space, consider adding shelves to any side, making sure to leave room in the middle for your vehicles.
Because the temperatures can become extreme in this area of the home, be careful about what is put out there. Items like candles may not stand up to the heat. Label everything clearly and when you enter, everything will look neat and orderly. Keeping this area uncluttered will give you a sense of clean and order when you walk into the house.
Work Space
If you have a special hobby or enjoy working on maintenance jobs around the house, garages make the perfect place to set up shop. You can hang all of the tools on the walls and keep parts stored in small containers on a workbench. When you need a little extra room for a larger project, back out the car and use the open space to complete the project.
You can set up a permanent space or come up with a way to move everything into a corner when you aren't using it. Enjoy fixing up the car and taking care of the mechanics yourself? Sometimes, the house just can't give you all of the space that you need. Garages are a great place to set up a home office, play room, or even an extra bedroom.
