Botox has now been used for a number of years for men and women that are intent on hiding the signs of aging; there is however, still a great deal of ignorance about how it achieves the results it does. Before this can be done we need to go back a little in time to when this was originally discovered.

The substance is derived from Botulinum toxin,Hiding The Signs Of Aging With Botox Articles discovered nearly five decades ago and was originally tested for use as a treatment for disorders of the mind.In 1989 it was finally approved by the FDA to treat eye muscle disorders; these included blepharospasm (uncontrollable blinking), strabismus (crossed eyes) and even wrinkles. By the new millennium it had been approved for a number of other conditions including cervical dystonia; this helps people with contractions in the upper back and shoulder and neck area, plus other eye disorders. The strange discovery they made quite by accident was that botox helps to reduce the visible lines between the eyebrows; after further tests in 2002 the FDA allowed it to be used for the first cosmetic enhancement and the drug finally had a new field of use.Botox paralyses the muscles that cause wrinkles keeping them in a relaxed state; eventually, over a period of several months, given enough of these injections, the frown lines start to soften. The lines will to the casual observer, disappear but the same process can now be used on laughter lines around the eyes and forehead lines as well. The form used in these injections is one that has been cleaned up and diluted, posing no threat; these treatments are only a fraction of the true strength which, in other forms, could make us seriously unwell.Unfortunately, lines and creases form whenever we laugh (especially as we get older) or make any other facial gesture; they are caused by muscles contracting. After years of making these expressions the wear and tear on your face begins to be noticeable and the lines start to become permanent; this is something that many skin creams have attempted to do for many years. Muscles in the area of the botox injection become paralyzed temporarily so they cannot move fully; because facial movement is reduced, it can give a doll like appearance to the user.People still have enough movement to look fairly normal but not enough to cause these wrinkles; so in fact by taking these injections they help you to look younger. Whilst popular this cosmetic treatment is still very expensive, with injections in the low to very high hundreds of dollars each, it looks to remain out of reach for those of us who are just intrigued to try it. As a recent form of cosmetic enhancement it may be some time before the full facts about long term botox use will be known but for now, most people really don't seem too concerned with any negative aspects of this popular treatment.
