The Ronald McDonald house is a wonderful children's charity that helps low income families meet the financial obligations of high medical bills and housing to be near specialized hospitals with their children.  This is a very respected and well known charity that you can feel extremely confident donating to and knowing that your funds are going to the charity itself and not to programs that don't directly affect the children and families themselves.
