Lily pollen stains are one of the biggest headaches for home owners to remove from their carpets. I have seen situations where the flowers have dropped onto the carpet dispersing pollen that's impossible to remove, and if water comes into contact with the area the situation worsens. At least 50% of the time this will be the case as its usually a vase that gets knocked over.

Lily pollen by nature is designed to stick to insects attracted by the flowers scent, it has an oily/waxy bond which adheres to the carrier in order for pollination to take place. This same texture will cause havoc in the house hold as it ingrains into carpet staining deep within the pile. Once lily pollen is rubbed in to the carpet it becomes very difficult to remove.

My best form of advice is prevention by clipping the stamen out when the flower blooms, however most of us wouldn't want to do this so when the situation arises where by pollen has dropped onto the carpet then you need to follow the following steps:

Do not rub or agitate the area, this will make things worse.

Get some household sticky tape and lightly apply to the area, repeat this until all the pollen is removed.

You could try a vacuum nozzle, but again do not agitate.

By following these steps you should prevent staining to a certain extent, once you are certain the pollen is removed you could attempt to clean the carpet with traditional methods. Ultimately these are DIY steps and results may vary.
