A common mistake that is made by individuals is to interlace the flaps of a box into each other,How to Tape Your Boxes Articles hoping that the tension created will hold the contents. This idea will only lead to disaster when the items come tumbling out of the box as you try to move it or cave in when another box is stacked on it.
Take the extra time to tape the boxes up to avoid problems later during the move.First, begin with purchasing packing tape. It is important to get packing tape and not substitute it with scotch tape because the later will not withstand the pressure from the contents of the box.
A tape dispenser is recommended because it can no only make the task easier and faster but saves your teeth from a beating and helps to prevent an unwanted trip to urgent care for sutures after a sharp blade slipped at the wrong moment.
"H" Taping
Start by opening and unfold a flattened cardboard box, once the box is in its square or rectangular shape tip the box onto one open side.
Begin by taking the smaller flaps and fold them inward, followed by the larger flaps.
The larger flaps will align with each side creating a straight line down the center of the box, this is the first site for tape.
Place a full, unbroken piece of tape along the center seam, being sure to leave an overhang to grip both sides of the box.
There will be two open seams at the both ends of the box forming a perpendicular angle to the center line, these also must be covered with one fluid length of tape each.
Looking at the box, there should now be an "H" shape formed by the tape along the seams.
You can now flip the box over so that the open end is up, and feel free to begin placing your items into the box.
Once you have finished packing your box, being sure not to overfill the container, you now repeat the same technique on the lid. Once this has been completed, place pressure along the tape of the top to ensure total adhesion.
