Reasons for a Breakup

Many my women friends ask me why men dump girls.  I decided that this was in reality quite an interesting topic.  You’ll notice other girls complain a lot about all the explanations why they all of a sudden find themselves single.  But I was determined to drill down a bit further and get the answer directly from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.  I went and asked Brian, one of my very close guy friends, who I can trust to be brutally straightforward with me.

Listed below are his top three explanations why guys breakup with women.  I'm sure you’ll find these very interesting.

You Are Too Needy — Brian said that a number of the women he has dated are simply too clingy.  They can’t endure being apart from their partner for even a split second.  They want to go grocery shopping with him, go to the ATM with him, and go to the laundromat with him.  It seems like they never give him a minute of free time.  Brian claims that one of the primary reasons why guys dump women is because we don’t give our boyfriends the right amount of space.

You will want to recognize that when a guy says he wants "space," he means something altogether different than when a girl says she wants space.  Guys are extremely career- and goal-oriented and every so often need time alone or with their guy buddies to get stuff completed.  If you think back to prehistoric days, this is akin to him going out to hunt for food.  Guys just possess a normal need to sometimes be by themselves or with a few other guys, so don’t be needy and give him the space he desires every once in a while.  It seriously isn’t anything to worry about, and you’ll learn that he comes back to you afterward feeling energized and excited to be with you.

The Man Is Not As Committed As You — Us girls often find ourselves daydreaming of walking down the wedding aisle and deciding the names of our 2.5 children considerably earlier than men.  Another one of Brian’s explanations why men dump women is that they rush into discussing these subjects with their boyfriends too soon. When you do this, you might probably scare him away.  Is he just immature and afraid of commitment?  Possibly.  But more often than not he simply doesn’t think that your relationship has a sturdy enough foundation to make a case for going to “that level” just yet.  When do you bring it up then?  This really is dependent upon the relationship and what the two of you have been through together.

You Don’t Have Personal Goals — If everything in your life revolves around your boyfriend, you will usually see him rapidly losing fascination with you.  Brian explained about a kind of creepy experience he had with one of his ex-girlfriends.  She told Brian about a dream she had and said, “I dreamed that both of us were joined together into one human being and I never had to do anything whatsoever or think for myself again.  It was great.”  No shock they’re not together any more.

That is an extreme case in point, but seriously ladies, guys still would like us to be independent and interesting.  You are just going to bore your boyfriend into breaking up with you if all you do is go shopping at the mall and watch television.  Guys like women that have their purpose and aspirations.  Work for that promotion at your job.  Finish that book you have always wanted to write.  Take out those paint brushes and make your new work of art.  Don’t just stagnate and let your creativity wither up.
