The Ford Motor Company rolled out the Ford Taurus during the middle 1980s,2010 Ford Taurus SHO: Performance Is Back! Articles a car that changed the way that Americans looked at mid-size sedans forever. Stylish, aerodynamically functional and a clear departure from what Ford had been selling up to that time, the Taurus quickly became the best selling car in America, maintaining that position well into the 1990s.

SHO Time and the Ford Taurus

One Taurus model that was a real stand out was the SHO which was offered from 1988 to 1998. Powered by a Yamaha engine, the SHO showed what the Taurus could do, providing a rich blend of performance, engineering and styling not normally found in a car of this caliber.

For 2010, the Ford Taurus will be significantly changed, marking the most advanced update since the original sedan was introduced for the 1986 model year. Beginning with the 2010 Taurus, the sedan will share the same platform as the Lincoln MKS while welcoming the return of its show stopping SHO model.

The all new SHO will be one of the first Ford models to feature the automaker's EcoBoost technology. EcoBoost helps turn an ordinary engine into an extraordinary performance machine, in this case the 3.5L V-6 will be outfitted with twin turbochargers and direct injection to give it the power of a V-8 engine while maintaining V-6 fuel economy.

Brett Hinds, Advanced Engine Design Manager for Ford had this to say about the SHO shortly after its debut at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show, Performance is going to be really enhanced for the vehicle, the vehicle will have great nimble driving characteristics, it'll be a fun-to-drive vehicle, it'll have good passing maneuvers, it'll have great acceleration and give you really confidence in driving the vehicle.

More Good Stuff For 2010

Ford says that the new Taurus will offer quite a few new features for 2010 including an ambient lighting package, projector beam headlamps with auto lamps, keyless entry, available heated/cooled front seats and safety canopy with rollover sensor among other safety improvements.

The 2010 Ford Taurus SHO will be in showrooms this summer, the same time the 2010 Taurus will be available. The Taurus SHO will be priced at $37,995.00 while the base Taurus is expected to debut in the mid 20s. Oh, by the way, the new Taurus has left the mid-size car category and has been repositioned as a full size sedan to take on all comers.
