When was the last time you had your motor oil replaced? Whether you are a diligent and responsible driver or not,3 Benefits of an Oil Change Articles you may not know that keeping up with your recommended service dates for motor oil replacement is quite possibly one of the best things that you could do for your car. This is particularly true if you would like to maximize your car’s driving potential; and who wouldn’t, right? It is the intention of this article to provide three benefits of oil changes in an effort to help drivers understand the importance of this regular vehicle maintenance.

The first and perhaps most obvious benefit of an oil change is the extension of the life of your car. In doing so, by simply ensuring that your engine oil is replaced every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, you can actually add years of drivability to the vehicle. The logic is such that routine replacement of motor oil, which is contaminated by external sources (i.e. weather conditions) during use of the car, can diminish the contamination of your engine. A clean engine will then function properly as well as not contaminate other parts of your vehicle which can contribute to faultiness or malfunction; the end result being a contamination free and properly functioning vehicle that can then be driven over a longer period of time. Another benefit of an oil change is better gas mileage. In a time with rising gas prices, who isn’t concerned about getting better gas mileage?

By simply getting regular motor oil replacements, you can and will be able to obtain better gas mileage due to the fact that cleaner motor oil positively impacts the functionality of your engine and related parts of your car in order to optimize operating potential. The third benefit of an oil change is a reduction of subsequent car malfunctions or breakdowns. As we all know, it takes more than just the engine for the car to function properly. Although the motor oil is first and foremost designed to promote the functionality of the engine, it also impacts other parts that work in harmony with your engine to give you the output that we all know and appreciate as a working vehicle. Specifically, dirty or corroded oil can cause the engine to have to work harder, which then can lead to your car overheating as well as making noises, both of which can not only indicate that immediate attention is required but can also lead to a breakdown.

Although tending to routine oil changes can be a frustrating nuisance for most drivers, especially those who wait in line at auto repair shops, being diligent about making sure that your car is properly maintained through regular motor oil replacements can and will prove advantageous in the long run. Specifically, not only will you be able to drive your car longer, but you will also be able to decrease car malfunctions or breakdowns as well as increase or maximize your car’s gas mileage.
