A Guide To Buying A Used Citroen C1

Looking for a used car that is practical, stylish, environmentally aware and cheap to buy and run?

Then the used Citroen C1 is the car for you!

The smallest in the Citroen range. This great little city car is available in a choice of either the 1.0 litre petrol engine, which will give you a return on average of 64.1mpg, or the 1.4 HDi diesel engine which again will give you around 68.9mpg, but this engine is only available in the 5 door option.

Looking around the used car market, you will find that there are 3 trims presented; the base trim being the Vibe, this option is available in the 3 or 5 doors, but only with the 1.0 petrol engine. In this you will get a very basic specification that will include ABS, EBD, Airbags, height adjustable steering wheel, power steering, and a CD player.

The next trim up, is the Rhythm, this will add electric windows, remote central locking, a rev counter, rear head rests, and split rear seats, be aware when looking for your used Citroen C1, this model only had Air conditioning as an option, so not all will come with it.

Finally the Code, which is found in either 3 or 5 doors, and 1.0L or 1.4HDi, has extra, 14 inch alloy wheels, half leather seats, and chrome inserts in the interior.

In 2009, the Citroen C1 had a facelift, and this also meant a change for the trim names. The Vibe became the VT and the Rhythm became the VTR, for this rerelease, Citroen made a limited edition model called the ‘Splash’, which unlike the other models came with air conditioning as standard! This model also only produced 106g/km Co2 and gave a return of 72mpg.

The used Citroen C1 is obviously not intended to be a fast supercar, but it was made with the intention to fill a gap in the market for a budget motoring solution, this doesn’t mean that this small used car is not fun to drive! The engines perform very well, and as the car is so light, taking this super little used Citroen 1.0L on the motorways is no problem, they have plenty of grip on the roads, and corners extremely well for a little used car!

The Citroen C1 is great for getting around the small towns, and as expected parking is easy, due to the excellent visibility and turning circle. I don’t think that there is any tight spot that this used car can’t get out of!

Don’t be fooled by its small exterior looks, inside is surprisingly roomy, and 4 tall adults can travel in plenty of comfort, but obviously this little used Citroen C1 isn’t made to carry a full drum set in the boot!! But don’t worry, you will still get plenty of shopping bags full of shoes in the 139 litre boot!

The interior design in the used Citroen C1 is distinctive and easily recognised with its heater controls that glow at night. It has a very user friendly stereo system with the option to plug in your iPod, and talking of pods, the used Citroen C1 comes with a cool speedometer which is set in a pod like style.

Typical of the used Citroen range, the Citroen C1 is one of the safest in its class. The Citroen C1 is also the better value, whether buying new or as a used car, you will get a much better price than the Toyota Aygo or the Peugeot 107, as we all know that Citroen always have excellent deals and tempting offers on their New cars.
