If you’re planning a flight,Airport Transportation: Consider Your Options Articles don’t forget to leave room in your planning for airport transportation. Do you have a friend dropping you off and picking you up? What about your plans for your destination? Many people make the unwise choice of leaving these plans for the last minute. It’s understandable, given the many other things that must be planned for when taking a big trip, but it can leave you in a frenzied state when you get to your destination. Often, people just wind up taking whatever is available, which usually means renting a car. But this can be expensive and an unnecessary expense if you aren’t going to be using the car for other purposes. Here are some alternatives that might make more sense.

A Limousine
The average person sees a limo as a luxury. Why would you hire a limo as your airport transportation when you can just as easily call a taxi? Well, there are several reasons. For one thing, you’ll certainly be riding in a higher level of style. If you are arranging a car for a client or someone you want to impress, this can go a long way towards doing so. Second, a limo driver is going to know much more about a city than your average taxi driver. They are there to provide an all-inclusive service and that means satisfying the customer. The taxi driver merely wants to get you from one place to another. That may be fine in some circumstances, but if you have the extra money to spend (and in many cases, it won’t be that much more), the limo makes a lot of sense.

The Bus
Most larger metropolitan areas will have city buses making stops to serve as airport transportation. As long as you don’t mind a somewhat roundabout route to your destination (if, in fact, you can find a bus heading where you’re going in the first place), it can make a good, cheap choice. If you are staying at one of the major hotels in the city, chances are you can count on the bus to make a stop there. Of course, if you feel like you’ve had all you can take of riding with others after the plane ride, this might not be the best course of action.

The Shuttle
For many people, airport transportation means taking the courtesy shuttle to the hotel. If you’re staying at a friend’s house or a smaller hotel, this probably won’t work. But if you’re staying at one of the bigger hotels, chances are they will have a courtesy van that will take people from the airport and bring them straight over to the hotel.

Car Rental
If you need not only airport transportation, but something to drive for the duration of your stay, renting a car will probably be your best bet. You won’t get to leave in style as you would in a limo, but you won’t have to depend on others for rides around the city.
