A good auto repair shop is the key to maintaining a vehicle. There are two different options that car owners can take when it comes to car maintenance and checkups, the first is to go for the do it yourself option and the second is to bring the vehicle to a garage or shop for maintenance and checkups. There is a limit to the kinds of repairs that an individual can do to his or her vehicle. The reason behind this is because not everybody has the time and capacity to do so. Most of vehicle owners are busy with their work in offices and businesses that they do not have the time to do the fixing on their own. Those who might have the time might not have the capacity or skill to do so. The word capacity indicates the means to actually own the more complicated tools and machine that help to maintain and fix the vehicles. Skill is also needed in order to properly go about fixing the automobile. Many of the mechanics and technicians in auto repair shops go through automotive school and trainings in order to land jobs that are related to this course.

This is actually a contradictory signs that the car owner may need to judge for himself. One cannot expect to have a clean area if it has something to do with automotive repairs and maintenance. Tire marks are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the amount of dirt that an auto repair shop may reach. The vehicle owner should be able to distinguish if the dirt, marks and oil in the garage are recent or have been neglected. Even if these establishments are expected to be oily and dirty at some point, there should be no build up or accumulation that indicates the lack of cleaning after each and every procedure or after the entire day is done. 
Equipment, Tools, Gadgets and Paraphernalia

The presence of up to date and innovative equipment and tools may be an indication that the mechanics of the establishment are also updated with regards their knowledge and skills. Some of the manufacturers of the equipment used in auto repair shops often require that the mechanics and technicians who handle these are trained. When the vehicle owner sees a mechanic or technician lost in translation while using one of the equipment, gadgets or tools take this as a sign that he or she may not have been trained properly. The lack of the right equipment, especially the more basic ones, is also a sign that the establishment may not be up to par.

Other Signs
Other signs that one can look out for are the presence of other vehicles, the way that customers are treated and the certificates and permits of the auto repair shop. Car owners can take the presence of vehicles of the same or higher caliber as theirs as a good sign that the establishment knows what it is doing. The way that the entire staff treats each other and the customers in the building is also an indication of their professionalism and good will. Certified garages usually display their permits and staffs’ qualifications for the car owners to peruse.
