It is important to have these checked regularly because these carry a heavy weight as well as endure immense friction when the vehicle is moving. Baldness
It is not just people who suffer from baldness. The rubber that makes up the wheels will eventually thin out due to the friction that occurs when they touch the concrete roads and streets. They manifest the signs because they may have scraped gutters or low walls where the driver may have parked. Cracks and breaks can happen in this part of the wheel and when one notices them, a mechanic should check to see how deep they go to prevent accidents. Weathering on this area can also be a sign that they need to be replaced even if there are no breaks or cracks. Weathering signs on the sidewall are shallow scratches, brittle rubber and cuts. 

Excess Movement
Auto repair mechanics and technicians are often consulted when vibrations or other unusual movements are present when driving on smooth roads. Vibrations can be attributed to an uneven thinning of the rubber material of tires leading to the uneven gait of the vehicle. This is dangerous because the part which is uneven may eventually bulge and blow out creating an accident, endangering the driver and passengers of the car.
