Basic License
A class 7 license is the basic step towards a fully licensed driver program. The entry level age is 14 years and passing the knowledge/vision test is a must. The aspirant must keep the Class 7 License for a minimum of 1 year from the date of issue before taking the Class 5 Basic drivers license road test. 
During practice driving, the class 7 driver must be accompanied by another driver who is above 18 and hold a Class 5 Advanced Alberta Drivers License and must sit on the front passenger seat. For the entry level driver, only 8 demerits will be allowed before a suspension order is slapped instead of 15 demerit points.
The following driving rules must be adhered to.. 
• They should not drive between 12:00 am and 5:00 am
• The alcohol levels must be zero while driving at all times
• The newbie driver should not carry more people than the number of seat belts
• If the aspirant driver is under the age of 18, the consent of  parent/guardian is a must.
