The latest competitor in the subcompact car market from Chevrolet comes in the form of the 2009 Chevy Aveo. This model is slowly but surely winning over drivers who prefer larger vehicles,Choosing The 2009 Chevy Aveo Makes Sense Articles with its charm.

The Aveo comes in three models with the LT model seen as the deluxe of the three. All of them are hand gearshift models, but the LT offers a very fuel-efficient automatic transmission that makes for easy driving. Price wise Chevrolet is right on the money with these cars.

The shift to smaller cars came about as the cost of driving large cars has escalated tremendously. Fuel prices and fuel economy factors sway a lot of buyers and the Aveo sports, variable timing of valves in the 4 cylinder engine got a bit of a re design before release. The higher economy rate this delivers makes for a very strong point in favor of the Chevy.

Some drivers may waste a bit of fuel getting used to the hand gear systems as they tend to have a bit of a stretch between them. But should you prefer the automatic shifts, be assured that the LT shows a definite increase in fuel savings due to the swift changes of the gearbox.

Chevrolet realized that many people would buy a smaller car if they felt safer in them and thus made this a strong focus when designing the Aveo. Their efforts went into the positioning of air bags in the right places to pass crash tests. Every Aveo comes standard with air cushions in the front side seat areas, and great attention was paid to the anti lock features introduced in the brakes.

Their efforts have paid off as the NHTSA awarded the Aveo their highest appraisal on safety - 5 stars- for the protection the Aveo gave it s driver. Passenger safety received four stars for those sitting in front and at the back three stars was awarded after side impact tests were done.

Available in two body styles namely a sedan model and a four door hatched back model, the Aveo appeals to most buyers. Seating five passengers with comfort, the redesigned interior impresses with standard features like the stereo AM/FM radio combination with separate auxiliary jack, wipers with intermittent settings, four speakers for great sound and OnStar in all models.

The more deluxe LT model boasts an improved nine speaker stereo CD player with optional keyless door access, satellite radio and electric windows / central locking to choose from.

All models have cloth interior finishes on the seats and side panels with the LT model giving you a larger choice of superior cloth, metal trim finishes and a bit larger storage in the back cargo space. This has proved to be problematic in many sub-compact vehicles.

City drivers are drawn to the Chevy Aveo as they search for a cheaper and safer ride amongst the small cars.
