Don't Put Off Your Oil Change- Your Car Needs a Check-Up!

The human population seems to have a love affair with the car. It's evident that millions of people have intimate relationships with their cars on a daily basis. Some people even spend more than half of their day in their car. They are responsible for so much of the daily excitement, but also the discouragement too. Hitting the open road and feeling the freedom of being able to go anywhere is one of the best attributes of being a car owner. But don't forget, just like you need your yearly physical, your car needs regular servicing too. Make the time to get your regular oil change, or your relationship with you car may end a lot sooner than you planned.

Sometimes vehicles run so well and smoothly, that people forget that regular maintenance is required to keep things running as they should. In fact, there are a lot of people out there who only think about their car's service maintenance when there is a problem. But if you want to lengthen the life of your vehicle, get your oil change as soon as it is due. Don't wait for a problem to occur.

So, why is this such a big deal? Well, your vehicle's engine was specifically designed to be lubricated with motor oil in order for it to work properly. Since there are many intricate parts to an engine that all move at the same time, or a different intervals it is important that these parts never touch one another. So, a major part of getting an oil change means that fresh oil will coat each intricate piece of the motor, there by making the movements much smoother and effective. The motor oil actually acts as a protective layer between each part.

If you delay your oil change and you are driving your car around town or on the highway you could be doing damage to the engine. Since you already know that fresh motor oil will lubricate those delicate pieces of the engine, you must also know that oil breaks down over time. So, that means once this happens, that it can no longer do its job of lubricating the pieces. This is when the trouble starts. If the pieces are not properly lubricated, they cannot move as swiftly and easily as they need to in order to accelerate the car forward. So, they begin to grind against each other and the possibility breaking one of the pieces of the engine becomes much more likely.

So, why not pencil your car in for a check up with your mechanic or an oil change service center? Remember, the experts recommend every three months or 3,000 miles, which ever comes first. This may seem like a lot, but you never know what is going on under the hood; it is better to be safe that sorry.
