A car can be good to keep or operate only when it is in running condition. A car is more of a liability when it is damaged most of the time or if it is beyond repair, but still kept in home garage.

Generally,Environmental issues to be considered while scrapping your car Articles people are ignorant of sending their old or damaged cars for scraping. Instead, they keep their cars in home garage for long time without using it or using it and incurring costs on it. People in general, need to be educated about the advantages of sending their cars for scrap, not only due to benefit of getting money, but also for environmental issues.

When cars are scraped, the tyres of the car need to be taken out and inspected. The tires are at a risk of contaminating environment due to their make properties like decomposition, risk of catching fire, chemical issues which can pollute land and water and effect landfills.

If more people get aware of reusing tyres, then tyres can be recycled more and the percentage of tyre reusing can be increased from 30% to at-least 60% . This way, landfills will not have tyres wasted and will provide an advantage to environment protection. The tyres consist of materials like rubber, hydrocarbon, oil, Sulphur and other materials which need to be looked at closely before deciding to reuse it or dispose it correctly.

While car scraping by the company, care should be taken to get rid of toxic oils of the car which cannot be reused and tyres which are worn out and cannot be recycled. While the cars are being crushed without taking care of it being depolluted, this results in huge impact on environment by releasing toxic and pollution. Damaged cars should not be put again on road before being repaired or it can cause accidents and release gases in the air.

The car owners should take out parts from the car which can be reused or sold again before giving the car for scrap. This helps not only in generation of money from both sides but also in preserving environment. The European Union has set a target of 95% of scrap vehicles being recycled by 2015 thus aimed in reducing effect on environment. This can be done by removing car accessories like glass, stereo, oil filters, plastic items, tyres etc and either recycled or disposed off. The car metal can be used for reprocessing in another car. About 85% of car parts can be recycled, which is good news for people who want something out of their old car in value and quality.

The car owners are also given the certificate of destruction by the scrap car companies in association with DVLA Authorities. The scrap car companies should operate their business at a safe place away from water or any place which can add to environment pollution by air and water.
