Gm is introducing a new bi-fuel vehicle to the market in late 2012! They have not yet announced which model the vehicle will be.
General Motors has announced a new plan to introduce a new bi-fuel Truck in the 2012 model year. They have not announced what model the truck will be yet, but they are hoping to have it released early in the fourth quarter of 2012.
For those who don’t know what a bi-fuel vehicle actually is, it’s a vehicle that runs on two different types of fuel, one being regular gasoline and the other being an alternative energy source. For this new GM truck the alternate source will be natural gas. The bi-fuel technology increases the fuel efficiency of the vehicle, saving consumers money and keeping the environment just a little bit cleaner.
Gm believes that the addition of this new bi-fuel pickup truck to their existing selection of vehicles will help them provide a wider variety in order to satisfy the needs of their economically and environmentally conscious customers. Joyce Mattman, the director of GM’s Commercial Product and Specialty Vehicles was quoted as saying “GM’s original equipment is engineered, validated and warranted which makes the decision to purchase our bi-fuel pick-up trucks easy. Like our CNG [compressed natural gas] vans, this turnkey product will be the best solution in the market and makes good business sense.”
The new line of trucks will be covered by GM’s standard three year, 36,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty as well as the five year, 100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty and the vehicle emissions warranty. The new vehicles will meet all Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board emission certification requirements.
Be on the lookout for this new vehicle to emerge on the market early in the fourth quarter of the 2012 model year.
