General Motors is reporting that the GMC line has had a sales decrease for the month of January. In January sales were down by over nine percent in total sales compared to the sales gains in the same month of last year. But luckily, despite this minute bump on the road to success, the individual vehicles Sierra, Acadia, and Terrain continue to soar in marketplace sales.
“GMC has seen great momentum for over two years,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Buick and GMC Sales and Service. “We expect that trend to continue as our dealer network and product line get even stronger in 2012.”
The Acadia has done particularly well recently. It debuted just in 2008 and already it has become one of GMC’s top automobiles. The vehicle had its strongest ever sales year in 2011 and was especially successful in major cities like Chicago which is one of Acadia’s annual top three markets.
“Powertrain and ride quality are constant points of praise for the Acadia, as well as the flexibility of second- and third-row seating” said a GMC dealer. “The introduction of the Denali model was timed well for people coming back for a second Acadia but wanting more features.”
The Acadia Denali is definitely becoming one of GMC’s top lines, accounting for thirty one percent of all Acadia sales. Total sales of the Acadia for last month were slightly down from last year, but much less so than the entire GMC line. And though the sales of Acadia were down from last January it was a tough record to beat, since last January was the Acadia’s highest grossing January since 2008.
GMC is really excited to be bringing customers the brand new 2013 model Acadias, which have debuted at the Chicago Auto Show. These vehicles are bound to make a hefty impression on the GMC customer base this year with their premiere. And though the Acadias were down in January some of the other GMC lines have pickjed up, including the Sierra HD full size pickups, with sales up by over five percent.
