After learning what the Honda Insight and inside out , and know how about driving and behaves , it's time to talk about the technology that incorporates its hybrid system, and consumption.

To begin we must mention two integrated motors in the hybrid system that Honda calls IMA . IMA means Integrated Motor Assist ,Honda Insight test (technology and efficiency) Part 1 Articles and that's the key to this car parallel hybrid gasoline, about which I commented in the first part, which some would call semihíbrido, to differentiate it from the full hybrid , or hybrid dry as the electric motor only assists the heat, and does not work if it is not working also the heat, although the latter do not consume gasoline promptly. The Honda Insight have one hand engine fuel cycle Otto i- VTEC , 1.3 liter, 1,339 cc, inline four-cylinder and eight valves (in a SOHC , with a tree on her head). Has opening and closing of valves varies in elevation and time, to the inlet, controlled electronically. Honda Insight: the electric motor assists the thermal The engine i-VTEC rated at 88 hp (65 kW) at 5,800 rpm and delivers maximum torque of 121 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The first engine VTEC dates from 1989, this was a 1.6 DOHC (double overhead tree) yielding 160 hp, and its design was the responsibility of the Japanese engineer Ikuo Kajitani, who was inspired by the human respiratory system, and how increases oxygenation for bronchodilation, when performing physical activity. The second driver of the Honda Insight is an electric motor and permanent magnet synchronous current of 14 hp (10 kW) at 1,500 rpm, maximum torque of 78 Nm from 0 to 1000 laps. It is very compact, occupies 48 liters and weighs 38 kg. The total combined power of 98 HP (72 kW). The car can not start up with the electric motor only as in type hybrid full hybrid , always has to do with the gasoline engine. The electrical function is to assist and supplement the gasoline engine to get more power and torque at times of high demand and accelerate and improve the efficiency of the car. A gasoline-powered car has an efficiency low of about 20%, the Honda Insight improves efficiency by 30%. The energy that is wasted in the withholding or braking (thanks to regenerative braking ), is recovered as electricity that accumulates in the nickel metal hydride hybrid system, which are fitted under the boot. Are cooled by air which is taken from the passenger compartment through a grid along the rear left seat.
