The facelifted 2011 Ford Mondeo was officially unveiled at the Moscow Motor Show thus giving an emphasis to the growing importance of Russian economy. Just a couple of months before Ford debuts the facelifted version of the Mondeo at the 2010 Moscow Auto Show, it took the covers off this sedan. This model of Ford unveiled it only a day after spyshots were shown the world over. Ford brought some alterations to its interior and exterior appearance and provided it with some upgraded powertrains and safety features. The first of the snapshots confirms the presence of new grilles which brought a bolder lower trapezoid and a slim opening above in the body, plus an enhanced bonnet profile and a redesigned hood.

Changes to its external feature comprises of new front bumpers with LED daytime running lights, and redesigned rear lights that also employ LED technology. Along with that, one modernized rear deck lid treatment matches the revised rear light profile.

To talk about its interior, Ford gave the 2011 Mondeo a new centre console design, revised door treatment and a new central overhead console with ambient lighting. Ford also put in new trim materials across the range. On this model, Ford has introduced LED courtesy lights and a new satellite navigation system.

It also has got a new Premium Sound System option which incorporates a 265-watt, eight-channel amplifier unit, all-new speaker system and a 17-litre subwoofer. The new Mondeo is available as a four doored or five doored hatchback or as an estate and it will come with new EcoBoost units. Buyers can opt for the car with engine of 2.2-liter TDCi with 200 BHP or the 2.0-liter petrol delivering 240 BHP which comes with the PowerShift transmission and has emissions of 179 g/km of CO2.

Ford of Europe is actually launching the most stylish and technologically advanced Mondeo model with a fresh, restyled exterior, an enhanced interior, plus new high-efficiency Ford EcoBoost petrol and TDCi diesel powertrains and a host of new driver comfort. And this new powerhouse is joined by the significantly improved 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel introduced to the Mondeo range earlier this year, and available with 115, 140 or 163PS power ratings, all three of which deliver average CO2 emissions of just 139 g/km with a six-speed manual transmission and regardless of body style. Existing 1.6- and 2.0-litre Ford Duratec petrol engines have also been retained, offering 120 and 145PS outputs.

For its exquisite safety measures, this sedan is actually offering the following new technology based applauding features: Lane Departure Warning System, Driver Alert and Auto High Beam, Active Grille Shutter and Smart Regenerative Charging as well as Blind Spot Information System, Speed Limiter, Rear Door Power Child Locks and Rear View Camera – all these utilising a new high sensitivity camera unit located at the top of the windscreen in front of the rear view mirror.
