On 12th December 2011 Nissan Motor private India Limited launched its diesel variant the Nissan Sunny in India. It is made available in two variants the XL and the XV. It is expected to make a huge success as the mid-sized sedan. When we talk about fuel efficiency the diesel is among the best in class. The petrol version of the Nissan Sunny was launched in the same year in the month of September and had earned wonderful comments and critics from the auto expert as one of the best entry-level sedan cars in the petrol version. Keeping with the same tempo the diesel version is also expected to create similar waves in the auto industry. The word Sunny has been critically chosen by the Nissan Motors depicting the Sun God that further implies a good beginning in the morning. Nissan Sunny is one of those premium cars which has been crafted and designed at the Nissan Design and Nissan Motors Company Limited chief headquarter in Japan. While making this version the engineers received some valuable inputs from around 170 countries across the globe.

The front portion of the Sunny Diesel is quite high on style which is primarily dominated by the Nissan’s signature grille. This is again bordered by a jewel shaped headlines with carefully applied chrome finish. Passengers can get inside the car with quite ease due to the presence of wide opening doors. The car also showcases sporty profile with the incorporation of muscular haunches, curvy sides and the clear rear spoiler. The new Nissan Sunny Diesel is 4425mm long in length and has a wheel base of 2600mm. This size gives sufficient space for the interiors. There is a rear knee space enabling the passengers to easily cross their legs and sit comfortably. There is also a huge arms rest in the middle with cup holders. All such features are usually noticed in premium luxury sedans. It also incorporates huge space for keeping luggage which is illuminated perfectly with a boot lamp. Sunny Diesel has been priced competitively at Rs 7,98,000 (XL) and Rs 8,78,000 (XV)-Ex-showroom prices, New Delhi.

The Sunny Diesel is a consequence of considerable inputs from the Indian market and motorized by the Renault Nissan Alliance’s greatly considered K9K diesel engine, has a fuel efficiency of 21.64 kmpl (ARAI certified) and is perfect for both city driving as well as for driving in the countryside.

Manufactured at the Nissan plant in Chennai, the diesel variant is powered by a modern 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder K9K engine delivering 86PS of power @ 3750 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm @ 2000 rpm. The smooth five speed manual transmission helps to provide both fuel efficiency and a powerful, engaging drive.
