You depend on your car every time you use it, but it is left to depend upon your memory for necessary maintenance each and every year. You can clip a coupon, pick an arbitrary date on your calendar to remind yourself, or the next time that you are near a garage that doesn't have a long line, just pull in and get your oil change. There is a suggested mileage meter stick that drivers should use to care for their engine, but the timing for an oil change is up to more factors than just the mileage that you've added up. For many years, the suggested check time was 3,000 miles, but some oils can now last up to 5,000 miles. However, pushing for 10,000 miles is just an urban legend. There are mileage limits given because the lubricant requires changing in order to perform its necessary work. Over the months and over the miles, it is heated, cooled, and it takes in bits from the moving parts and from the outside air that break down the oil. Much like the oil you fry with one, twice, then a third or fourth batch of any food. You can see the oil get darker and become corroded with bits from the batter or other food that you are preparing. It starts to smell and changes its viscosity because it gradually absorbs aspects of the food you cook in it. Like motor oil, all lubricant's properties break down the longer they are used. In order to protect the engine's instruments and maintain the height of your car's performance, clean oil is required.

Regular maintenance improves full auto performance. Frankly, old oil makes your car work harder to get you to your destinations each day. This includes the amount of gas that is burned during each mile of movement. But, when the engine is clean and reaching its full performance potential, you will notice that your car uses less gas to travel the same distances in a week. That is a great incentive to get car owners like you to perform those regular maintenance duties more regularly because the price of a quarterly oil change is worth the savings in gas every week.
