Oil Change- Regular Or Synthetic Oil For Your Car

It seems everyone has an opinion on any job known to man. It is the way of humans to constantly develop new designs and different ways of doing things. Whether you are building a fence or growing corn, there are always at least ten ways to do it. And when it comes to getting an oil change for your vehicle, there are two different ways you can go: regular motor oil or synthetic. Most people are not even aware that there is such a thing as synthetic motor oil. Which begs the question, isn't all oil synthetic? It is not like it's a natural oil like olive or canola that you are putting into your vehicle's engine.

So, what is the difference between synthetic and regular for an oil change? Well, leave it to the human race to come up with a way to make a modified version of what comes out of the ground, manufacture it, and use it in the same way. Synthetic motor oil is just that: a manufactured version of what comes out of the oil wells. Basically, it is modified petroleum, with all sorts of chemicals and lubricants mixed up to emulate crude oil. Regular motor oil is basically only crude oil.

Even if you are not a mechanic, most car owners are aware that there are different grades of motor oil. And, of course, certain grades are engine specific, and this is true for both the synthetic versions and the regular version. This knowledge is common for the simple reason that most people who own cars do, in fact, read their owner's manuals. However, most people do not know that synthetic motor oil performs better than regular motor oil. Since the synthetic version has been manufactured, it has been specifically tailored to suit an engine-- meaning, your engine will run better with the fake stuff.

You may be asking yourself, "How can the manufactured stuff be better for my vehicle than the pure stuff?" Mechanics and auto technicians believe that the manufactured stuff does not break down as easily or as quickly as the crude oil. Many believe that not only is it better for your engine to use the synthetic, but it means that you will be needing an oil change much less frequently than with the regular stuff.

However there are fans of both the conventional kind and the synthetic. Some car enthusiasts believe the overall performance is much better with synthetic than with the conventional. Of course, you always want to make sure you read your car manual to find out what the car manufacturer says is the best for your specific vehicle. After all, you can't just fill the engine with just any oil.
