Skoda Rapid has been raising a lot of hue and cry over the last few days and finally all the commotion will come to an end when the company launches the car by the end of this month. The car is expected to do pretty well because of its entry level positioning and off course the high tech features that one usually associates with the Skoda. The company is looking to go the way of the masses with its entry level sedans and target huge volumes in the process.

This is the first time the company is coming up with an entry level sedan car in the Indian market with the launch of Skoda Rapid. As of now the company has still kept the price of the car under wraps but the car can be expected to be priced competitively. From the media reports, the market positioning and the features one can expect the price of the car to be around the price range of Rs. 7.50 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh as per ex-showroom data. The car is expected to come with a host of innovative, comfortable and safety features which will be on par with the likes of Volkswagen Vento, Tata Manza, Maruti SX4, Ford Figo, Tata Indigo and Hyundai Accent.

The production of the cars has already begun. From the pictures of the car available thus far it has been seen that the Skoda Rapid is really attractive for an entry level sedan. The Skoda Rapid seems to be heavily inspired from the premium sedan Skoda Luara. On the other hand the features and specifications seem to be a rip off from the Volkswagen Vento. The new C+ segment entry level sedan is built on the same platform similar to the Mission L concept. The car features are expected to be next generation technology and is expected to go quite well with the Indian customers due to its most advanced technology, great power and performance.

The car is bolstered with power windows, powers steering, remote central locking, manual air conditioner, rear defogger, steering adjustment, height adjustable driver's seat, designer wheel covers, single DIN music system etc. It is even high on safety with features like keyless entry, push-button start, folding rear seats, airbags, ABS and EBD will also be available in high-end model as standard. The company will also offer all these safety features in the base and mid variants as optional.

The mileage of the car is also quite decent for an entry level sedan and is possible due to the use of some modern technology to the car’s engine. The Skoda Rapid is also expected to be available in both the fuel variants with a petrol and diesel option. Both the fuel variants are equipped with the same 1.6L, 1598cc, 4 cylinder, 8 valve engine. The gasoline engine generates a maximum power of 105 bhp and a peak torque of 153 Nm. On the other hand the diesel engine also makes a max power of 105 bhp and top torque of 250Nm. The car is expected to come with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.
