Murphy's Law dictates two things are inevitable in life. First the day you get a brand new car something will happen to it and the day you pay off your brand new car something will happen to it. The "it" is usually something small like a rock chip on your windshield that wouldn't bother you on your old clunker that was held together with duct tape and prayer,The Benefit to Timely Auto Glass Repair Articles but on your new car it's a crushing blow.

And Murphy's Law also follows that the longer you ignore the small chip the more likely it will spread across your windshield the first time you use your heater or it rains. Murphy was really quite pessimistic but sadly also right more often than wrong.

If you have a small rock chip on your windshield you have some options available still for repairs that can help you avoid a complete replacement but you need to act fast for this option.

An auto glass repair shop can inject a small amount of acrylic resin into the chip to seal it and help the glass maintain its structural integrity. You may always be able to see some evidence of the repair even when it's done by a pro but the purpose of correcting a rock chip in your glass is not cosmetic as much as it is to help prevent further damage from occurring.

If you do nothing the chip may never spread or it may start cracking across the windshield the next day. That's the problem with Murphy's Law- its unpredictable and the only thing certain about it is nothing is certain about it. That's also the problem with small chips- they are very unpredictable. Sometimes a chip will almost seem dormant and you will forget about it until a cold snap or heat wave hits- any dramatic change in temperature one way or another will usually do it. The sudden change will often make a dormant chip spread into a crack and once a crack begins it can spread like wildfire across your glass.

Most auto glass repair shops can come to you at your home or job to do windshield replacements or auto glass repair or you can go to them if you find it easier-so there is no excuse to put it off and take the gamble with your window. Plus insurance companies are often willing to pay auto glass repair shops for crack repairs because it's cheaper than replacing a whole windshield which is the alternative if small problem is ignored and becomes a big problem later on.

And since Murphy's Law only dictates doing something to your car on two occasions you can be relevantly confident that once you make the smart choice to repair a chip your car will survive to a ripe old age and won't get a rock chip as you drive away from the auto glass repair shop with your newly repaired window.
