There are certain requirements that a person has to meet and credentials he/she must obtain to be a commercial driver. Commercial drivers are known as professional drivers- meaning that they are held to a higher standard on the road. Most UK companies require a good driving record and a CDL (Commercial Drivers License). Drivers who want to drive for European Union countries must go through training and obtain a CPC certificate. CPC stands for Certificate of Professional Competence. This CPC driver training is required for all UK drivers who want to drive professional buses, coach, or lorry. Qualifications for this program are split into four parts: Part One: The theory test-basically a multiple choice test that covers hazard education. Part Four: The driver practical test-vehicle safety test and demonstration. All drivers will be required to complete thirty-five hours of periodic training every five years to keep their certification.
