The 2013 Shelby GT500 is the latest addition to the legendary Mustang line. It's a very powerful and very fast car,The new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Articles which is not a surprise, since Mustangs have always been that way. This one is even more powerful and faster than every other Mustang built so far, though.

That's why we should start breaking down the numbers right away. The 2013 Shelby comes with a ferocious supercharged 5.8-liter V8 engine, generating 650 horse powers and 600 lb-ft of torque. It's a rear-wheel drive car, with a 6-speed manual transmission, which provides for a smooth gear change. These attributes help it get from 0 to 60 in just 3.5 seconds, and develop maximum speeds of 200 mph.

You might think that it would be difficult to control this beast at these incredible speeds, but you shouldn't be worried about that. There is an excellent Electronic Stability Control, as well as Brembo front brakes and standard hydraulic gas-pressurized shock absorbers.

Although the Shelby in my humble opinion can't compare to the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche in terms of exterior design, it's still a pretty good looking car. There are a couple of changes made regarding previous models. The HID headlamps are now standard for the Shelby, as are for all the other Mustang models. There are two sets of triple LED taillights, which along with the headlights give it a sporty and edgy look. Also, two intakes replace the old grille, which is a huge change. Forged-aluminum wheels come as a standard feature on the GT500.

The interior of the 2013 Shelby offers comfortable and ergonomically designed leather seats, as well as leather wrapped steering wheel with aluminum spokes and a seamless instrument panel with aluminum accents. The beautiful ambient lighting on the doors and cup holders is available in seven colors, and you can choose one of 125 available colors as lighting for the instrument gauges.

The audio system features an HD radio with 6 speakers along with two sub-woofers, and there is a 4.2-inch LCD screen at the top of the center console. It shows performance metrics, such as acceleration times and g-force readings, thanks to the Track App.

Mileage estimates are 15 mpg for city driving and 24 mpg for highway driving. The base price is set at $54,200.

To sum up, the 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500 is an amazing continuation of the great Mustang tradition, offering an incredibly fast ride in a comfortable interior, with new, modernized looks that will appeal to the younger consumers, as well as the older population that has a special sentimental connection to the classic American muscle car.

Apart from the product, Ford is currently working with Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) on another exciting project, the SEMA Mustang Build Powered by Women.
