Theft Reports

On the morning of August 12,Vineland Police Report: August 12 Articles two vehicles parked on the first block of West Walnut Road were reportedly broken into and had their car DVD players stolen. The DVD players were later found in the vicinity.

Other thefts reported on the same day include:

  • Cash stolen from a vehicle parked on the 400 block of Quince Street.
  • Cash and a cell phone not belonging to the owner found in two vehicles parked on the 200 block of South West Boulevard.
  • Money stolen from a vehicle parked on the 500 block of South Sixth Street.
  • A purse stolen from a residence on the 1200 block of Solona Avenue.

Arrests and Charges

James J. Thompson, 45, from the 200 block of North Delsea Drive, was arrested on the 1500 block of Almond Road. He was charged with simple assault and two weapons offenses. Thompson was also wanted on a Cumberland County Superior Court warrant and was held in Cumberland County Jail on an $8,500 bail.

Traffic Violations and Collisions

Joseph Collazo, 24, from the 300 block of Axtell Avenue, was issued six summonses following a collision at Delsea Drive and Forest Grove Road. The charges included fictitious license plates, no registration, expired driver’s license, no insurance, failure to stop/yield, and leaving the scene of an accident. Collazo's vehicle was later found in a parking lot on Freddy Lane and he was traced to Omni Bakery, where he had clocked into work but was not found on the premises. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Other traffic violations and collisions reported include:

  • Edward Kalesse, 43, from the 1000 block of New Pear Street, ticketed for driving on a suspended driver’s license following a collision in the Wawa parking lot on South Main Road.
  • Tiffany Ricketts, 20, from Dorothy, cited for improper emerging from a private driveway after a collision at Landis Avenue and Main Road.
  • A 27-year-old Vineland woman reported a hit-and-run collision at Landis Avenue and Seventh Street. A white Hyundai reportedly hit her vehicle and fled the scene.
  • Heber Pitts, 23, from Millville, cited for a traffic light violation after a collision at Sherman Avenue and Delsea Drive. He collided with a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Vineland man, who reported his vehicle rolled over several times but his seat belt kept him in place. The Cumberland County Road Department assisted with cleanup due to the large amount of construction material scattered on the roadway.
  • Terecita Lopez Rios, 50, from Bridgeton, cited for failure to yield/stop, no driver’s license, no insurance, and obstruction of view after a collision at Garden and Mill roads. Rios reportedly mistook the intersection for a four-way stop. The other driver, Justin Richards, 28, from Delran, was ticketed for driving while on the revoked list and was taken to Inspira Medical Center Vineland for a reported leg injury.
