When going on holiday or travelling abroad for business, one of the things you should definitely purchase is single trip travel insurance. There are many good reasons to invest in a decent policy for your trip, and you may already be aware of these. However, there are also a number of things that you should double check to ensure you are covered for everything that you need. Here are five to watch out for.

1. Activities

If you're planning to take part in any activities while you are away, always make sure you check just what is and isn't covered on your single trip travel insurance policy. The reason for this is that many policies will have a list of activities that are covered, but these will not typically include risky activities like bungee jumping and skydiving. You may also find that some activities that you assume to be quite safe are not covered.
This is especially important when you go on a winter sports holiday, because you will often require special cover for skiing, snowboarding and other winter activities.

Always double check to make sure you are covered for the activities you want to do, and consider taking out extra insurance if you are not covered.

2. Pre-Existing Health Conditions

If you have a pre-existing health condition, you may find that you are not covered for treatment on your single trip travel insurance policy. Insurers usually ask you whether you have a pre-existing condition, so always be honest if you do. If you are unsure whether what you have is actually a pre-existing condition, speak to someone at the insurance company to ask them. If you do not declare your condition, you may find that your claim is rejected.

3. Trip Duration

Always check exactly how long your trip is covered for. This will normally be a certain number of days. If you decide that you want to stay abroad for a few extra days, you may find that you are no longer covered by your policy. It can be difficult to extend your cover once you are overseas, so always make sure you pay for a sufficient length of time whenever you go abroad to avoid problems.

4. Required Documentation

If you need to make a claim, you may find that your insurer needs certain documentation to process it properly. For example, if your personal belongings are stolen you may need a police report from the country where you are staying. Find out in advance about these requirements so you know exactly what you have to do. If you're unsure, call your insurer to ask them what you should do in certain circumstances so they can explain it.

5. Maximum Limits

Make sure you know what the maximum limits are for different aspects of your policy. For exampleHealth Fitness Articles, when it comes to personal belongings you may have a total limit that you can claim for as well as an individual item limit. Know what these are in advance and you can avoid any nasty surprises when you go to make a claim.

Know What Is Covered

Don't just purchase a single trip travel insurance policy and assume that you're covered for every eventuality. Always go through your policy details so that you know exactly what you are covered for to avoid any problems.
