Those structures are called agricultural buildings in general, while specifically, they are categorized into barns, sheds, garages, farmhouses and much more.

The history of agricultural buildings date backs to earliest eras of human beings. In those days, agricultural buildings were merely round structures to store crop and protect livestock. As the time passed by, the layout of the agricultural building modernized. Agricultural buildings today, are of various kinds, made up of different buildings with different sizes, designs and color combinations. Below is an overview of the types of such buildings:

 

Types of Buildings

Mainly, agricultural buildings are categorized according to their size and layouts. Whereas the size and Layout of the agricultural building greatly depends upon what purpose it is used for.  Contrary to traditional agricultural buildings, which were made on the basis of “make and sell” policy, agricultural buildings today are much customized and fabricated according to the needs and requirements of customers. The types of buildings are further discussed as follow:

 

Sheds: This word is so common that even barns are confused with sheds. Sheds are used to store grains, crops, valuables and sometimes used as a shelter for farm animals such as cows, horses.

Barns: Mainly, barns are used to shelter livestock, although, they might be utilized for storage purposes as well. The design and layout of the barn may indicate whether it is a horse barn, dairy barn, or any cattle barn.

Farmhouses: These are the main buildings in farms, which might be used for setting up an office, a drawing room, or a shelter area for workers. Farmhouses may also be used to store important instruments.

Garages: Garages are used to station the farm vehicles.

 

Material of Agricultural Buildings

Agricultural buildings are built up of various materials. The material might be block, wood or steel. The strength and properties of an agricultural building greatly depends upon what material it is made up of.

Wooden agricultural buildings: Wooden agricultural buildings are attractive in looks, but they are costly in the long run. They are more vulnerable to termites and rotting and thus require a heavy expense on their up keeping.

Block Made buildings: Block made agricultural buildings is yet another option, though, they are expensive to build, and besides, do corrode and are immobile. The fast pace of migrations by the farmers have made it less popular nowadays.

Steel agricultural Buildings: Steel agricultural buildings are light weighted, portable, cheaper and comparatively stronger than wooden agricultural buildings. Steel made agricultural buildings are becoming popular these days as they require very little maintenance.
