The law of no gain without any pain is well understood by most birds. The brood patches are formed in birds.....

What corporate philosophy/principle the brood patches seen in birds during incubation/nesting stage convey?

The brood patch is nothing but a patch of featherless skin formed in the belly region of birds during incubation of their eggs.  The feathers either get removed naturally or sometime birds also remove them forcefully and thus ‘brood patches’ are formed.   Only when the feathers are removed,Birds know the law of no gain without any pain Articles the birds can provide/transform uniform heat to the eggs during incubation.  Presence of the ‘feathers’ can affect the heat transfer as it is an insulator.

While removing the body feathers forcefully, some birds do experience pain but the pleasure of rearing and nursing the future prevails over the pain in most birds hence they remove the body feathers despite pain. The featherless skin also gets vascularized (supplied with more blood) so that the skin in brood patch will be relatively warmer than rest of the parts of the body.

The message to be learned by the corporate employees is that every endeavor/mission/purpose needs some basic preparation.  Only when one prepares for the mission or purpose, the desired/expected result can be accomplished or achieved.  Every such preparation demand some commitment, sacrifice and willingness to take pain.

It is not the female birds alone develop brood patch, the male birds also develop the same.  Interestingly, none of the brood parasitic birds like cuckoo develop brood patches.

Besides the pain during removing the body feathers, the birds do feel pain during incubation also as the featherless skin only come in contact with the nest.  Usually the nest is made of sticks, threads and dried leaves.  The nest surface hence would be very rough.

If birds had some discomfort or displeasure in undergoing the above process, they would not be in position to ensure the future generation.

Another interesting aspect seen in some birds is that the size of the brood patches is relatively large during winter than during summer.   ‘During winter’, the birds can’t afford to take a chance in giving constant and required heat to the eggs.  But at the same time, the bigger brood patches also may cause the problem of thermoregulation to the birds as birds are warm blooded animals.

Nature has proved through evolution that no gain is possible without pain.  Certain pains have to be accepted in the larger interest.  Birds have understood this philosophy very well.

Learn from nature that birds have understood the fundamental law/essence of existence in the right context and the right perspective i.e. every pain will definitely ensure a gain.   All you need is the wisdom to see and embrace the gain.
