Most public apartment communities will not accept anyone with a broken lease on their record. If your not sure what a broken lease is, we will be happy to define it for you.  Its very important to keep your credit clear of broken leases or judgments. These can keep you from being approved in the near future.
When you rent an apartment home you will sign a contract that will highlight the lease terms for you. Once you sign the agreement you will be bound by the terms of the lease.  If your lease is for 12 months, you will be expected to pay the 12 months of rent. However, if you decide to skip out early and not pay the rent, your in violation of your rental contract.
The landlord or management company has every right to report you to the 3 major credit bureaus. If your credit is pulled in the future, a broken lease will be noted. Any time you try to rent in the future you probably will be denied unless you pay off the amount in question. 
Every lease with have a clause where you can pay to void the contract. This amount is usually up to 2 months in advance. It’s much better to pay off your lease rather than be subject to a broken lease. However, if you have a broken lease and either cannot afford to pay off the remainder or simply don’t want to, there are apartments and methods you can use to find the apartment you want.

There are many properties that will accept a broken lease. It’s just a matter of finding them. However, it should be noted that most properties that do accept individuals with a broken lease are usually older communities that have more wear on them. What does this mean? Well you probably won’t be able to get anything that has lots of upgrades and is so new the paint is still dripping.
