Career coaching can be a niche that you would like to enter as a coach. It requires specific skills that can be acquired through practice and training. There are two types of coaching that deals with careers. There are those that have not decided on what careers they would like to take and will require you to assist them in making their decisions. You will need to find out what their interests are and what their goals are to have a feel of what career paths they would like to take. The second type of career coaching that one goes through is those that are not satisfied with the careers they are presently in. You must help them find out the reasons why they are not happy with their career choices and if a career change is a decision they have to make.
Like I have mentioned above, career coaching can mean helping your client in their path to changing their careers. Most people enter college or get a course and study to obtain qualification for a certain type of job only to find out years later that they are not passionate about what they do and that they are not happy with what is going on in their lives and career. It is up to you their career coach to open their eyes to new possibilities, to help them expand their horizons and help them discover what they want to do with their lives and find out what truly makes them happy. You will help them realize these things to help them move forward in their lives and be successful in what they do and love.
The other type of career coaching is one that involves a consultant type of coaching. This involves clients that already have a take as to what they want to do with their careers. They just need a little push and your help to move to the direction they want to. Let us take for example a client of yours wanting to be in the real estate business or an entrepreneur. As their coach, you will be responsible in teaching them specific skills that are required for them in their chosen fields. You can teach them to learn how to do well in interviews, how to dress better for their jobs or how to exude confidence so that they can present themselves to their future employers or future business partners.
If you are interested and you have ample background then career coaching may be the niche you are looking for. Helping others discover what they are passionate about to learn what careers they want can be the career you are looking for.
