If you own a dollar store business it is in your best interest to attend trade shows every so often.  They are held all around the country so you should be able to find one located close-by at some point during the year. 

Those who want the best shot at success should attend these trade shows once or twice each year.  There are many reasons why you should go to one.  One of the main reasons is it can help you find suppliers for your general merchandise.

If you have been operating your store for a length of time then you certainly have a few suppliers you have done business with before.  At the trade show you can meet up with them face-to-face and work on strengthening your relationship.  Knowing your supplier first-hand will definitely help your business in the future.

At a trade show you may even find special deals on items you are interested in buying.  Paying less money for items will certainly help increase profits.   You should always be looking to increase profits any way you possibly can.

Attending a trade show is the perfect way to meet new suppliers too.  You will have the benefit of sitting down with them face-to-face.  More importantly you can get to see the merchandise in person and touch it in order to gauge its quality.

If you like what you see you could even go on to place a sample order of the general merchandise.  You can test the waters with your new supplier.  If they are able to deliver your merchandise to your store like they say they can you may have just formed a great new business relationship.

Going to trade shows gives you a great setting to network with other store owners too.  It is always a good idea to meet and talk with other store owners as much as you can.  Doing so may provide you with ideas that will help you improve your operation. 

When you attend a trade show it is best for you to take a lot of business cards with you.  Pass them out to as many people as possible.  Do not forget to get your hands on other store owner's business cards too.
