Life threatening situations like the break out of a fire can come with little or no expectation. And it is important that everyone should have knowledge about fire and safety for such situations,Fire and Safety Education – A Must for Everybody Articles be it at home, at office, in a factory or anywhere. Everybody should have the basic understanding of how to use fire extinguishers for different kinds of fire or fire from different kinds of fuel.

Education on fire and safety should be a mandatory for everyone, including children, for the obvious reason that it can save not only one life but several others. Knowledge gained to handle such situations also leads to more organized and disciplined approach to almost all kinds of fire break outs, than frantic attempts and running about helter-skelter which sometimes lead to stampede. For kids and adults who stay at home, dealing with fire, bursts, shorts and how to stay safe in all kinds of situations that can possibly be imagined is very important, especially if a child is all alone at home.

Fire protection and knowledge is also important at workplace. A lot of organizations carry out mock drills where employees are told how to

  • evacuate the building in an orderly fashion
  • maintain calm state of mind during such crisis
  • protect and help self and fellow colleagues
  • use fire extinguishers effectively

Such drills are sometimes not taken seriously by employees, especially those who are busy in important work or meetings. However, that should not be given priority over such drills as these drills reduce the hysteria that fire break outs bring about, to a large extent, and gives direction to one and all.

Even at home, parents must make sure that their kids are trained well in fire protection and dealing with fire and shorts. They should be properly trained by not only watching videos of how to put out fire, but also making them use all kinds of fire extinguishers and practical tips on stopping fire and keeping them and their siblings safe. Some of the regular fire extinguishers should be kept at home within easy reach of children and they should be strictly instructed on the use of such devices. The fire extinguishers kept at home should be easy to use for both the children and the adults.

Not only education, you should also have the right kind of equipment around you, such as fire alarms and addressable sounder and beacon, emergency lights, dry powder extinguisher, fire blankets, fire doors and fire resistant items should be up to date and in proper condition.
