Everyone knows that leaving a gun laying around your house is more than just foolish. It is downright dangerous. It doesn’t matter if you own a handgun or a deer rifle,Fireproof Safes for Gun Collections Articles If you are going to own a gun, it needs to be secured. The best place for your gun to be is locked up tight inside a fireproof safe.

If you have gone to the expense of purchasing a gun, than you should also be willing to go the expense of purchasing fireproof safes to house your gun collection. No, the fireproof safes don’t look nearly as cool as a nice display case, but at least they are safe, something that most display cases aren’t.

Fireproof safes are a really good choice when you are looking for someplace to house your gun collection, because they should spare you the expense and headache of having to replace your guns if there is a fire. The other nice thing about having your gun collection stored in fireproof safes is that if there is a fire it could be several days before anyone can get into the home to start bringing stuff out. Having your guns secured in the fireproof safes means that you don’t have to worry about them falling into the wrong hands if someone decides to raid your burnt out home.

The nice thing about fireproof safes is that even when the fire gets really hot, the stuff in the safe is usually still in good shape, with the exception of electronics. As long as the fire is put out within an hour of it starting, your gun collection should be in as good a shape after the fire, as it was the last time you locked it away in the safe.

Most fireproof safes aren’t fire resistant after an hour of intense flames. If the fire goes on long enough, there is a chance your gun collection could be destroyed. However, the fire marshall will be able to confirm that the guns were indeed locked into fireproof safes. This conformation will make it almost impossible for the insurance company to argue with you about your claim so you should be able to start replacing your ruined collection right away.

Your gun collection itself isn’t the only thing that should be tucked into your fireproof safes. You should also make sure that your ammo, permits, and insurance papers. Having all of your documentation with your firearms makes it possible for you to find it quickly.

Every time you return one of your guns it is very important that you check and double check that you have in fact relocked the safe door. An unlocked safe is the same as no safe at all.
