While it is important that an artistic office be a part of an artistic business it must be appropriately done, all too often many designer seem to go overboard in those types of situations. When it comes to furniture a good deal of chrome and leather can really liven up an environment while not appearing too 'busy'. Many advertising agencies and other creative groups fall into the bracket of 'artistic', and for this reason they must make the effort to toe the line between being artistic and very professional.

While there are some businesses that certainly need to be both professional and expressive in their office environments it ultimately comes back to a sense of hospitality. You do not want your office to seem overly sterile or uninviting to clients, and yet there is something to be said for being so friendly that professionalism is compromised. There must always be a measure of respect and perspective where office furnishings are concerned to ensure that the wrong message is not sent. When dealing with clients who are new to your business you want for there to be an amazing, yet slightly muted first impression. There is nothing good that ever comes of imposing too much awe upon a client or other business associate to the point that they become overwhelmed.

In the end it is a sense of balance and perspective that will enable someone to achieve the proper amount of, and type of decor for their office.
