Flowers speak a language of their own and each flower symbolizes a unique sentiment. Flowers of the same color denote similar feelings. The following article talks about flowers, their colors and subsequent symbolization.

It is fascinating to learn the language of one of the most beautiful gifts of nature – flowers. Floriography or the language of flowers can do wonders if used correctly. To express a feeling, we humans may take immense time, but flowers with their mere presence can convey the same feeling in no time. 

Flowers of the same color denote the same feeling, and it is wonderful to use them to express most inhibited feelings. Let us go through the different colors of flowers and their significance. 

Red: Red colored flowers are tokens of love, passion, desire, strength and seduction. Various red colored flowers like roses, daisies, carnations and many more, convey the feeling of likeness to the heart. Even a single red colored flower has the power to express the world’s most beautiful feeling – love.

Blue: Blue colored flowers are symbols of serenity, tranquility, peace and openness. Just like the vast blue sky and the deep blue ocean, blue flowers like hydrangea and iris endow a calming and cooling effect. 

Orange: Orange is the color of the Sun and symbolizes confidence, enthusiasm, vibrancy and energy. Similarly, orange flowers like poppy, the daffodil and cosmos denote passion, vigor, dynamism, adventure and exhilaration. These flowers are apt to convey the feeling of strong love, enthusiasm and are an invitation for an adventure. 

Yellow: Yellow flowers denote happiness, success, friendship, enthusiasm, compassion and appreciation. Yellow flowers like chrysanthemums, daffodils and roses, are for gifting to friends. They strengthen the  bond of friendship. People also present yellow flowers to work associates, to show appreciation.

White: White colored flowers stand for purity, chastity, innocence, thoughtful love, humility and undying fidelity. White flowers like roses, gardenias, lily of the valley, orchids, carnations etc. are perfect to convey everlasting love. This is the reason white flowers are a favorite among brides. 

Lavender: Lavender colored flowers symbolize admiration, grace, elegance and feminine beauty. These flowers are delicate and precious. Lavender colored rose has special significance and expresses love at first sight. The other common lavender colored flowers include lilac, violet and orchid.

Purple: Purple colored flowers indicate spirituality, royalty, elegance and charm. They represent appreciation and give a romantic impression. A bouquet of Iris or sweet pea sends a strong message of admiration.

Green: Green flowers convey a message of optimism, resilience and pleasure. Mostly, people present green flowers like the calla lily or ivy to wish good fortune and good health.

Pink: The color pink represents grace, delicacy, admiration and happiness. Pink flowers like roses, camellias, carnations and chrysanthemums denote love, passion, innocence, sensitivity and thoughtfulness. Light shades of pink are tokens of gentleness & admiration and dark shades are for gratitude & appreciation.
