The Mumbai Development Plan for 2005-2025 has made special provisions for the suburban towns along the Western Line and Goregaon is likely to see the most effective benefits out of them. Situated between Andheri and Santacruz,Goregaon east (MMR) and Mumbai Development Plan 2005-2025 Articles Goregoan’s road and infrastructure requires immediate shake. The traffic snarls around the flyover at Dindoshi and Film City makes the town a very cataclysmic place to survive.

The Mumbai Development Plan 2005-2025 has differentiated the town into two parts. One covers the old localities that have been around for over 40 years and the rest is the recent development sites. The major residential sites like Unnat Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Motilal Nagar, Bangur Nagar, Jaiprakash Nagar and Shastri Nagar continue to thrive heavily despite saturation; the Eastern boundary of Goregaon has crossed beyond the Aarey Milk Colony and the forest areas.

The Mumbai Development Plan for Goregaon East includes improved road connectivity to the International Airport and the development of the New Dindoshi layout. The recently developed Nagari Nivara Parishad housing scheme already houses more than 30,000 low-income families. The affordable housing schemes will be directed to Goregaon East’s extreme stretches.

Top developers like Sunteck Realty Limited, Oberoi Realty and RNA Corp have already made their plans clear about putting more investment in Goregaon East and boost the results of Mumbai Development Plan. Sunteck’s business tie up with Disney Consumer Products (India) will see India’s first interior project based on the American animation concept. Similarly, Oberoi Realty that already has a mega mall in the region is also changing the skyline of the Eastern Township. Oberoi International School, Oberoi Commerz, Oberoi Garden City and Oberoi Woods will be developed as a full-fledged infrastructure localities as per the plans of the Mumbai Development Program set for 2025.

Western Expressway, Link Road and the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road are seen as the lifeline of the western suburb. The proposed Bandra-Charkop Metro Rail line and the building of the new Oshiwara suburban train station will ease out the pressure on the connectivity in the town. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is zeroing on a scheme to enhance the traffic dispersal system in Goregaon East. It includes provision for elevated road corridors, pedestrian foot step over-bridge and underpasses, escalators, service roads adjoining the Expressway and Grade Separators.

The flyover at the Didoshi locality has already been finalized for the development program. The expansion of the existing 4-Lane flyover will be part of the Infrastructure Development Project. It is already running smooth and plans to add lanes to the existing fly-over are being considered to ease traffic to and from the International Airport.

Goregaon East could also benefit from the Mumbai Urban Transport Project that is planning to extend the regular service over the Harbour Line till Goregaon.
